The most important things to consider when planning a Dolomites helicopter elopement

For one reason or another, a Dolomites helicopter elopement is probably for you. Hiring a helicopter to whisk you away to your own private mountain peak for an elopement ceremony is an unmatched choice. It comes with massive benefits, and some very manageable downsides. The most important thing you want to consider when hiring a helicopter is flexibility around timing and flight location. Mountain weather changes a lot, and sometimes you have to wait until the very day of to know what the plan will be. You also need to be ready for a backup plan in case it’s too windy or volatile to fly safely. As long as you’re flexible and willing to go with the flow, it’s a great option.

PROS OF A DOLOMITES HELICOPTER ELOPEMENT

  • incredible views requiring no hiking
  • landing spots far off the beaten path, away from gondolas and popular tourist spots
  • access to areas outside gondola operation hours (usually 9-5)
  • ultimate location flexibility (helicopters go 150+ mph and you can get anywhere in the Dolomites in 20 minutes or less)
  • no crowds, total privacy
  • ability to invite lower mobility guests, like parents and grandparents
  • unforgettable sightseeing experience; you’ll see the entire region from above
  • ability to land in multiple locations
  • time saved traveling/hiking = more time for other things or saving money on photo coverage

CONS OF A DOLOMITES HELICOPTER ELOPEMENT

  • cost; add roughly €2,000 – €3,000 to your elopement budget
  • risk of cancelled or delayed flight due to weather
  • potential motion sickness…ask me how I know haha

HIRING A PHOTOGRAPHER FOR YOUR DOLOMITES ELOPEMENT

I’m Mariah, an adventure elopement photographer based in Innsbruck, Austria. I moved from the United States to Germany/Austria in 2018 to chase my love of mountains, photography and a German guy who stole my heart.

I quickly learned I wasn’t the only one dreaming of a better way to get married…so I combined all those things.

I’m now a full time adventure elopement photographer. I help other travel and outdoor obsessed couples embrace a “just us” wedding day surrounded by nature.
