B&P’s two day grand hotel tremezzo elopement on Lake Como took place in July, a normally hot and humid time of year. We were lucky that a storm rolled through the day before, dropping temperatures to a perfect 23C (73F), with clear blue skies and a light breeze. This couple’s elopement was packed with villa tours, stops for ice cream, cocktails by the water, and a stunning ceremony at Villa Carlotta.
For anyone considering an elopement at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo, or Lake Como generally, this is an ideal itinerary to start your planning with!
We started early in the morning in their room at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo, Lake Como’s most iconic hotel. With the balcony doors open and a cool morning breeze blowing in, B sat for her hair and makeup. The beauty, grandeur and size of Grand Hotel Tremezzo makes it a wonderful location for elopements, as there is so much variety on the grounds. Their poolroom is wonderful for a waiting partner, and the gardens make the perfect shaded spot for a first look.
Even better, it’s proximity to Villa Carlotta makes it walking distance to the ideal ceremony location. Underneath a blanket of roses, they read their wedding vows overlooking the lake. From there, it was an afternoon of sunny boat rides, villa tours, espresso stops and hilltop picnics.

B&P wanted to elope on Lake Como because it blends the laidback, “seaside” luxury of the Italian mediterranean, while being situated in the lush green alps. It’s the best of two worlds.
B&P envisioned an elopement that combined the glamour and luxury of the Grand Hotel Tremezzo, with the beauty of the surrounding villas and mountains, at a pace that allowed them to relax and be themselves. They didn’t want to rent out all of Villa Balbiano, with a 75k budget for florals and rainbow fireworks, to do so.
However, they were having trouble finding vendors who were supportive. They wanted something luxurious, but simple. Indulgent, but practical. They wanted that “Lake Como Wedding” feel, but without the things they didn’t truly need.
In their search, planners, photographers and event coordinators were telling them what they wanted was either impossible, or trying to inflate their plans.
B&P reached out to me because I understood and supported their needs.

“We couldn’t have asked for a more incredible photographer to capture our elopement in Lake Como. From the moment we met, Mariah made us feel completely comfortable and at ease — which is no small thing when you’re eloping in another country! Her energy, genuine enthusiasm, and artistic eye turned our special day into something out of a dream.
Every single photo feels like a piece of art — beautifully composed, full of emotion, and somehow capturing all the little in-between moments we didn’t even realize were happening. The way she captured the light over the lake, the textures of the old villas, and our genuine laughter feels timeless. We’ve looked through the photos countless times and still can’t believe the magic.
Beyond the stunning images, Mariah went above and beyond — multiple google meets beforehand to help us plan the perfect day! She is full of first hand knowledge of the area, tons of tips and recommendations! Mariah really just made the whole experience so fun and effortless.
If you’re eloping in Italy (or anywhere in the world), we cannot recommend Mariah Arianna Photography enough!!! She didn’t just photograph our day — she told our story in the most beautiful way imaginable.”
