Fairy Tale Wedding Photos at Burg Eltz, Germany

Having your wedding photos at Burg Eltz means a 100% chance of the most romantic, dreamy, fairy tale vibes imaginable. This is a location for wedding photos that would make even Cinderella jealous.

Burg Eltz is hands down one of the most charming castles Germany has to offer. If you’re looking for the perfect romantic backdrop for wedding or engagement photos: here it is. Castle Eltz is tucked away in a lush, green valley surrounded by trees and silence. It’s also high on my list of the Best Places to Get Married or Elope in Germany.

If you wake up for sunrise to do wedding photos at Burg Eltz, you will have the place mostly to yourself. Without a doubt, that’s what I recommend doing as the place fills up with noisy tourists quickly. Funny enough, you actually won’t find many locals here. I’ve lived in Germany for 3 years, and most Germans don’t know the place exists!

It’s definitely a place for tourists. Due to that, after 8 or 9 in the morning you’ll want to be making your way out of the valley and headed for breakfast mimosas! Spend the day in neighboring Koblenz walking along the Rhine river and enjoying a Bier Garten (or two).

But in the meantime, while the crowds are still sleeping, Burg eltz is an absolute dream itself…

Fun Fact: burg Eltz is 850 years old and has been in the Eltz family for over 33 generations. Thirty THREE!

  2. […] Not many people consider that elopement locations can be lumped into these two categories. When figuring out how choose an elopement location, you both need to consider which types of places are most authentic to you and your personalities. It’s easy to get drawn into the Hollywood narratives of large cities like Paris or Vegas, only to be disappointed to find they’re loud, crowded and often dirty. Likewise, couples can be shocked at the lack of amenities at remote wilderness locations. Be realistic about what’s most important and comfortable for you. Choose locations to match!Consider these questions:Do you thrive in situations with a lot of people?Do you find crowds, traffic and nightlife exciting, rather than overwhelming?Do you vibe with consumer focused environments?Do you prefer spending your Friday nights dancing and socializing in bars or clubs?Do you gravitate towards you own city’s downtown area?If you answered no to may of these questions, then fist bump, because you’re just like me and prefer the sounds of silence. If you answered yes to many of these questions, then also fist bump, because an urban elopement may be for you!For the former, consider elopement locations which are more nature focused, heavy on landscape and scenery and natural wonders. For example: national parks, public lands, natural wonders, deserts, oceans, mountains, junglesFor the latter, consider elopement locations which are urban, trendy and maybe even a bit glamorous. For example: Vegas, Barcelona, Paris, Milan, London, LA, NYC, Miami – or a medieval German castle […]
